For the past thirteen years, Amaryllis Theatre Company in Philadelphia has provided accessibility for its own audiences and has served as a resource for its colleagues through Philadelphia’s arts access initiative, Independence Starts Here. Now the affiliate of VSA (formerly Very Special Arts) for Pennsylvania, Amaryllis partners with Pennsylvania Council on the Arts to share its totally affordable solutions to accessibility and audience development, especially for patrons who are deaf or blind, with its colleagues around Pennsylvania.

Register for the Art in Action Learning Lab in August

ArtsErie’s Art in Action Program will host an Art in Action Learning Lab from Sunday, August 12 to Tuesday, August 14 at Allegheny College in Meadville. The conference is open to AIA partner school administrators, teachers, staff, teaching artists, as well as teachers and teaching artists outside of the program who want to know more about arts integration and arts infusion.

The theme of the Learning Lab is “Making an Impact.” Sessions will focus on practical applications for using art in the classroom, as well as ArtsErie’s Art in Education program.

The registration fee includes workshops, group meals and snacks, a school calendar and the chance to win gifts. An ArtsErie member discount is available. Teachers may also receive nine hours of Act 48 Credits.

ArtsErie Project Grant Info

ArtsErie Project Grant Deadline:
Wednesday, August 15, 2012

ArtsErie Project Grants provide funding for art performances, projects and exhibits in Erie County.

Project grants of varying amounts are available from three funds. Projects of any artistic discipline may apply for $500 to $5,000 from the ArtsErie Unrestricted Project Fund. Arts education projects may apply for $500 to $2,500 from the Virginia Vieser Arts Education Fund. Projects involving music performance may apply for $500 to $5,000 from the Clarence E. Beyers Music Performance Fund.

The project must occur in Erie County, PA and take place between October 1, 2012 and October 31, 2013. For additional eligibility info and guidelines, please visit the funding section of the ArtsErie website. Grants are due on or before Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
