Citizens for the Arts has designated April 30, 2012 as the day to visit with our legislators to discuss budget priorities as well as other public policies that affect arts & culture. Since most of us can't make the trip to Harrisburg, how about arranging to meet with legislative staff at your local district offices? As you make your appointments, please visit the CFTA website and enter your appointments.
Currently, both Governor Corbett and the State Senate have proposed level funding for the state’s arts agency, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. The last piece of the puzzle will be the House of Representatives. Please do your part to ensure state arts funding continues!
Some suggestions when you speak with your legislators or their aides:
• Let them know how state arts funding has benefitted your organization through a story or with pictures
• Invite them to your next exhibit or performance
• Thank them for past support
More information can be obtained from the Citizens for the Arts website.
Can't visit? Make a call.
If you're tied up on April 30, take a few minutes to make a call or send an email encouraging support of the budget for the PA Council on the Arts. Let your legislators know how important that funding is to you. Click this link to get your legislative contact information.
