Arts in Education program

The Arts in Education program, a partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), was developed in 1995 to strengthen arts education initiatives on a regional level.

The PCA decentralized the program, by empowering arts organizations throughout the state to implement the program. This structure allows arts education programming and funding to reach more people.

The Arts in Education Program is now available in 63 counties throughout Pennsylvania and has helped foster strong community relationships by meeting the needs of the local regions.

ArtsErie implements and oversees the Arts in Education Program in the following 11 Northwestern PA counties:

  • Cameron
  • Crawford
  • Elk
  • Erie
  • Forest
  • Lawrence
  • McKean
  • Mercer
  • Potter
  • Venango
  • Warren

PLEASE NOTE:

Thank you for your interest in the Arts in Education program with ArtsErie.

Due to the state budget cuts, ArtsErie will not conduct an artist application process this year for teaching artists, but we are working to have funding back on track for next year. In the mean time, you can help us advocate for the importance of the Arts in Education by visiting the Citizens for the Arts website and clicking on the Legislative Action Center button on the bottom left corner. At the Action Center, you can contact your legislator about the importance of the Arts in Education. Thanks!

ArtsErie’s Arts in Education program also offers other benefits:

  • Professional development opportunities are available to artists, educators, administrators, and community leaders.
  • Special community projects and residencies are planned, funded and implemented through the program.
  • Arts Education fund development is ongoing to assist with projects and programs through additional grants. Businesses may also be eligible for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC). Please click here for more information.
  • Arts Education advocacy and information sharing is done year around to ensure the community understands the benefits of the arts and how they can access programming.
