TAP Program
The Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP) emphasizes a long-term, in-depth interaction between a professional teaching artist, a teacher and the students; lessons are based on the curriculum but are designed with an art component woven into the lesson. For example, a class of 4th grade students will learn geometry while they work with a quilting artist to design, measure and prepare fabric for a quilt.
The teaching partnership between a teacher and an artist enables the students to not only understand the lesson content but to also understand the art form involved while also developing their skills and creativity through that art form. Each project is designed and developed by the teaching artist and the classroom teacher with the direction of Holly Nowak at ArtsErie.
TAP projects may take place in public or private non-profit schools, early childhood education institutions or specialized schools.
